South East Regional Championships

Level one winners
Level One winners, Left to Right: Reece Shepard, Euan Cox, Finlay Lincoln

The regional competition to select teams to represent the South East at National finals in May was held at Tolworth Gymnastic Club, Kingston on Sunday 21st March. Pegasus was well represented across the different levels in an event which saw 100% of the eligible gymnasts from the Bearsted based club selected to Regional teams. A feat unequalled by any other club in Surrey, Sussex or Kent!

Outstanding work at Level 1 saw a wipe out with Pegasus taking all the medals in a high quality field. Euan Cox kept up his winning streak to take Gold, with much improved Finlay Lincoln nudging Reece Shepard into bronze medal position. The boys will travel with Head Coach Ionut Trandaburu to Birmingham in May for their first National event. Competing in the under age Level 1 competition Pegasus gymnasts also did well with Isaac Frimstone winning silver, Samuel Ghinn the bronze and Oliver Wroe marginally behind in 4th place.

At level 2 Gareth Thomas demonstrated style and accuracy to run out the overall winner ahead of talented gymnasts Patrick Smith from Hawth and Rafe Brooks from Brighton & Hove. James’ Lamb competing at Level 3 kept up the run of medals coming in = 2nd, with club mate Joseph McMorrow 5th after an expensive error on High Bar. Adam Deans at Level 6 won a silver medal but has much work to do being some 2.8 marks adrift of the gold medal position.

Selection to the Regional voluntary team event was made using named competition results from earlier in the year. Courtney Tulloch, James Hall and Joel Burch from Pegasus have all won places in the South East team.

Pegasus is running a variety of holiday activities which are open to non members – for details contact 01622 737170 or log on to www.pegasusgc.org
